The member representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District of the Nigerian Youth Parliament Hon. Ouseibai  Godsgif has condemned the killing of two soldiers attached to a oil facility by suspected sea pirates in Azagbene community in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The Young Parliamentarian took a swipe on the Nigerian Army for attacking the innocent and defenseless people of Azagbene with properties destroyed as a result of the unfortunate murder.

His special adviser on media and publicity,Hon. Tari Bibirinbie quoted the parliamentarian as saying it’s devastating that such issues still occur in our clime where miscreants will attack those that are to protect them to the extent of taking their lives, are the Army Officials not human? Why take their lives? I am not a party to such unscrupulous acts and I condemn the killing of the two soldiers in its entirety.

He is also condemned in strong terms the reprisal attack on the innocent, defenseless and harmless citizens of the Azagbene Community.

“To me, this is genocide. Have the Nigerian Military thought of what happens to the infants, the children, the women and the elderly before their actions? It is very pathetic. Why didn’t the Army carry out proper investigation through intelligence gathering and go after the perpetrators of the gruesome killing instead of going to wipe out an entire community for a crime they did not commit? This is unfortunate and it is not acceptable”, he said.

He charge youths of the area to be calm and always be law abiding and avoid social vices that will truncate their future, stressing that the military should carry out their duties effectively with professionalism without violating their rules of engagement particularly while dealing with a defenceless people.

He called on political leaders, government, NGOs etc to come to the aid of Azagbene community .
