*He did nothing for Ijaws as a Minister
- Says Okowa is fair to the Ijaws

Delta State House of Assembly candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Burutu constituency 2 in the 2019 general election and prominent son of Ijaw nation, Mr Peres Oloye has lashed out at former Minister of the Niger Delta Ministry, Elder Godsdey Orubebe over his recent criticism of the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration, saying he (Orubebe) does not have the locus standi to speak for the Ijaw people.
Elder Godsdey Orubebe had weekend, accused Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of marginalizing the Ijaw people of Delta State in some of the national dailies. Oloye in a statement yesterday, challenged the former Minister to point at what he did for the Ijaws when he was in government, laminating that Orubebe could not even build the road to his (Orubebe) village.
Decrying that Orubebe could not complete the expansion of the Bomadi/Ohoro road project he embarked on, he said Orubebe should rather stop talking and bury his head in shame. He added that Okowa was doing a lot for the Ijaw people in terms of political appointments and projects.
He said the Ijaw Local Governments has one Commissioner each like other every other local governments, adding that Burutu local government where Orubebe came from produced the Senior Political Adviser, Special Advisers and a Commissioner in the present government of Dr Ifeanyi Okowa. He added that the State Deputy Governor, Mr Kingsley Otuaro is also an Ijaw son.
Oloye said; “Godsday Orubebe doesn’t have the locus standi to speak for Ijaws. Governor Ifeanyi Okawa has done nothing to warrant Orubebe calling for his head. Perhaps Orubebe is suffering from senile dementia if not what developmental project did he attract to Ijaw land in Delta state when he was a Minister under former President Goodluck Jonathan.
“Orubebe has forgotten so soon how powerful he was during Jonathan’s reign as President, yet he could not do anything for us the Ijaws let alone Delta State as a whole. Senator Ifeanyi Okowa just appointmented Prince Emmanuel Amgbaduba as Commissioner from Burutu, Chief Daniel Yingi as Senior Special Assistant, Chief Solomon Funkekeme as Senior Political Adviser. The Deputy Governor who is our brother has never complained that he is being side lined in the scheme of things.
“I believe the Ijaws will still get more appointments. Orubebe doesn’t have moral justification to speak on behalf of the Ijaws; he failed us when he was super Minister. The only project he brought to Ijaw land was abandoned (Skill Acquisition at Tuomo). The Ijaws can’t forget his poor performance as a Minister in a hurry.
“Orubebe should bury is head in shame in stead of playing god. I belong to APC but the truth must be told no matter the political differences. As for me is just too early for anyone to criticize a government that is barely two months old” he said.
