Yingi assures spill affected Delta community prompt govt response

BURUTU- Member representing Burutu North Constituency at the Delta State Assembly, Hon. Dan Yingi has assured oil spill victims in Odimodi community in Burutu LGA of Delta State of a prompt government response.

 

 

The lawmaker disclosed yesterday in Odimodi town, Burutu LGA of the State when he visited the scene of the spillage for an on sight assessment.

 

 

His words ‘ I want to thank the affected community of their peaceful disposition over the oil spillage.  I want to assure you that Delta State government and other relevant spill agencies will not abandon you in your time of distress. I sympathize with the Odimodi people for the unholy socioeconomic hardship the people are faced with as a result of the spillage and encourage them to keep faith with the norms and that the response on the part of government shall be swift and prompt ’’

 

The spill has affected the economic activities of the locales, which is mainly fishing and farming activities.  Many are now being idle and disengaged from fishing activity.

 

Hon. Dan Yingi who was companied by the Federal Lawmaker, Hon. Julius  Pondi, Delta South Senatorial PDP Chairman, Chief Emmanuel Amgbaduba, SA to the Governor of Delta State on Peace and Conflict Resolution, Sir Shedrack Agediga and others  on spot assessment of the oil spill that occurred few days back at Odimodi town.
