Two Nigerian female wrestlers – Blessing Oborududu and Odunayo Adekuoroye – over the weekend emerged victorious at the World Wrestling Championship held in Istanbul, Turkey.
Adekuoroyewon a gold medalist in women’s wrestling 57kg category, beating her Ukrainian opponent, Tetyana Kit 10-0.
Oborodudualso defeated another Ukrainian counterpart,AlinaBerezhnaMakhynia 10-0 to clinch bronze medal in the women’s wrestling 68kg category.
With the win, Adekuoroye is expected to be ranked in the top-three in her weight class. She had earlier won the German World Ranking Series and placed third at the Bulgarian Ranking Tournament early this year.
Oborududu will also be placed in the top eight, having won two bronze medals in Germany and Istanbul this year.
