Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen has hinged the successful implementation of three-point agenda of the Federal Government on the appointment of more women into positions.
Tallen said the next level agenda of the All Progressives Congress(APC) can only be achieved if more women are appointed into positions
Speaking in Akure, the Ondo State capital when she paid a courtesy visit to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN ahead of the 19th National Council of Women Affairs and Social Development meeting, said it was to discuss matters that affect women, children and the elderly.
The minister pointed out that she believed at the end of the meeting, tangible solutions to issues affecting the role of women in government and society would be reached and called on governments at all levels to involve more women in their cabinet.
Tallen thanked the government of Ondo State for making hosting the 19th edition of the conference a success.
In his remarks, Governor Akeredolu, who was represented by his Deputy, Hon Agboola Ajayi,said the state government was offering its maximum support for the well being of women in the society.
The Governor assured the delegation of the state government’s maximum support to foster gender equality and protection of the girl child.
According to him, government was doing many things to ensure that right of children and the physically challenged people were not abused
The National Council of Women Affairs and Social Development conference holds annually in the country.
This year’s event has as its theme; Gender Equality and Social Inclusion: A Panacea for Peace, Security and Sustainable Development in Nigeria.
