The Week 17 Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) match between Rivers United FC of Port Harcourt and Wikki Tourists of Bauchi played at the Yakubu Gowan Stadium Elikahia in Port Harcourt ended in a barren draw.
At the Post-Match interview with Sports Writers’, the Technical Manager of Rivers United, Stanley Azunda Eguma said his boys’ inability to put the ball behind the net of their opponent cost them the deserved victory.
“My boys played well, but their inability to score gave us the draw. I played to win, but we got a draw. We will keep on working on our finishing till we get what we want,” Eguma said.
On his part, Usman Abdallah, newly signed Coach of Wikki Tourists said he has succeeded in stablizing the team.
According to him, for them to have gotten five points in three matches means they are on course.
Abdallah who was signed recently by Wikki Tourists after his disengagement from Enyimba International Football Club of Aba, said the future is bright for his new found team.
“Now that I have stablized the team, I will set a goal towards winning the trophy,” the Coach said.
The tension packed match saw Rivers United earning ten Corner-Kicks as against Wikki’s one. The encounter also recorded three Yellow card for the Visitors and one for the home team.
The accurate reflexes of the visitor’s Goalkeeper, Ibrahim Pius could not go unnoticed, as the lad caught and parried the ball from all angles to deprive Rivers United the needed victory.
At the end of 90 minutes, it was Rivers United zero, Wikki Tourists zero.
