“If you refuse to clean your premises, maybe the Special Task Force will do that for you. Then, you pay a huge fines to the task force or go to jail.”

Hon. Onoyake who was flanked by the Secretary to the Local Government Council, Hon.(Engr.) Francis Umuroh said,”We are giving them between now and on Monday to do that. By Tuesday the Special Task Force will come out fully.

He emphasized that,” If the residents are not ready to clear their premises, the Special Task Force will do that and they will face the penalty. ”

Hon. Onoyake expressed the disappointment at the attitudes of the residents towards the sanitation exercise.

According to him,”First of all, I am really disappointed with what I saw today. The residents see environmental hours as time to rest at home.

“I discover that from the 7am to 10am, the commercial shops and their homes, most of them were locked. Just 5minutes after 10am, you see all shops reopened for the day’s activities leaving their environment dirty.”

While noting that it is not the duty of the Council to clean the environment including the homes of the residents, Hon. Onoyake passionately appealed to residents to have a change of attitude stressing that the Council will spare no defaulter.

Hon. Onoyake who was also accompanied by the Head of Personnel Management, Mr. Macaulay Ukutsemuya as well as the Supervisory Councillor on Environment, Hon. Ted Mawe commenced the clearing of Jakpa road particularly the median (from the junction) down to Asheshe axis back to Jakpa Junction with the hope of completing the exercise at Ekpan axis next week.
