Uroupaye emerges Yenagoa LG  Chairman

The candidate of peoples Democratic party(PDP) for 2019 Bayelsa state local government area election,Hon.Oroupaye Nimizuoa has been elected chairman of Yenagoa city council.


Declaring the result at the state collation centre ,Mr.Abraham Goodhead said,forty four political parties participated in the election and Mr.Uroupaye Nimizuoa of peoples Democratic party pulled 89,831 votes while is closest rival,Mr.Lawrence Kwokwo of ACD party scored 636 votes.


Mr.Abraham stated that,inline with Bayelsa state independent electoral commission laws, Mr.Uroupaye Nimizuoa of peoples Democratic party(PDP) having pulled the highest votes cast is Herby declare winner and elected.


Speaking to newsmen briefly after the declaration of results, Mr.Uroupaye Nimizuoa thanked the good people of Yenagoa local government for their trust in him and pledged not to betrayed the mandate given to him by the people.


Mr.Uroupaye  pledged people-oriented policies and programs that will attract the needed development to it’s constituents.


He seized the medium and called on those lost at the poll to sheath their sword and collectively join hands with him for development of the area.


Speaking in the vein,the governor representative of Yenagoa local government,Hon.Patterson Ikpi called on the newly elected chairman to run an all inclusive government.


Meanwhile  the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Daniel Iworiso-Markson has commended BYSIEC for organizing a credible, peaceful and organized Local Council polls, which he said can be adjudged as the most credible elections since the creation of the state.


According to him, the election has clearly set a high standard and benchmark for INEC ahead of the November 16th governorship election and the national electoral body must not dash the hopes of the people for a credible poll.


Iworiso-Markson noted that as a government they are very proud of BYSIEC for the feat and congratulated all Bayelsans for proving to the world that democracy is alive in the state and that things can be done right given the right environment.
