Union donates 64 bags of rice to unpaid workers

IN a rare show of solidarity and compassion, the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), Federal College of Education (Special)  F. C. E (Sp) Oyo, has donated 64 bags of rice to her sister chapter Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, (E. A. C. O. E. D), Oyo, one of the six Oyo State owned tertiary institutions whose workers had been grappling with irregular and fractional salary for more than two years, a situation which has impoverished most of the workers and exposed them to different forms of hardship. 

In a brief address on Sunday at the union’s secretariat, Erelu Campus, the chairman of COEASU, FCE(Sp), Com. Oladeji Nureni, expressed sympathy for the members of EACOED, while appealing to the state government to promptly defray the accumulated arrears of 16 months to the workers so as to alleviate their sufferings. 

In his reaction, the chairman COEASU, EACOED, Com. Segun Oyewunmi thanked the FCE (Sp) chapter as a body on behalf of the entire members of his chapter and also appealed to Governor Abiola Ajimobi  to Iive up to the workers expectations of receiving their unpaid 16 months salaries.

Other members of EACOED, chapter could not hide their joy at the relief package as they expressed the difficulties to feed, sustain their health and pay their wards’s school fees.
