The Chairman of Garden City Building materials Dealers Association Port Harcourt (GCBMDA) says the site of Ultra Modern Building Materials Market out of Port Harcourt city is inline with Rivers state government’s vision of rural transformation, and decongesting Port Harcourt city agenda.
Speaking to Journalists in Port Harcourt, the chairman of the association, Comrade Calistus Nnadika said the aim of locating the market outside Port Harcourt is his association’s vision of been part of the New Rivers Vision of Gov. Nyesom Wike of urbanizing the rural area and decongesting Port Harcourt city.
”The idea of building the Garden City Building Material Market came from God, but the concept of locating the Market out of Port Harcourt city is in tune with the New Rivers vision of Gov. Wike of decongesting Port Harcourt city, a way of taking building material market closer to its consumers, because Port Harcourt is already developed and development need to move out of the capital city, to take Rivers State out of one city state.”
The chairman of the association averred that their choice of the location of the market is the obvious choice of investor of business friendly location.
” In Ikwerre LGA, the chairman Hon. Engr. Samuel Nwanosike has created enabling environment for investors to come and invest. Fake land speculators and intimidation by thugs is a thing of the past, and the LGA is tax and security friendly” he expressed.
On his association’s relationship with Rivers state government and relevant authorities before locating the ultra modern building material market in the area, Comrade Nnadika opined that ”For the state government, GCBMDA is the first Trader’s Union to donate palliative to Rivers State good during the lockdown occasioned by COVID-19 pandemic, showing love and support to His Excellency Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike’s administration.
”We just paid courtesy visit to Ikwerre LGA chairman, and he warmly received and encouraged us to complete the project as quick as possible”.
”The Aluu community we are very cordial with them, as I speak with you they are very much eager welcoming the market, because they know is going to enhance the economic wellbeing of the community, and the Greater Port Harcourt Development Authority, all the documents of the project are been authenticated by the authority, because you know this is a life time project, and am quit confidence that they are going to give us the necessary support we needed. We expect to commence our trade there in eighteen months time”. Comrade Nnadika contended.
The ultra modern building materials market in Mbodo Aluu in Ikwerre LGA is solely owned by the Garden City Building Materials Dealers Association Port Harcourt. It is the first market built by Trader’s association in Rivers state.
