Special adviser to the President and coordinator of the Presidential amnesty programme High Chief (Dr.) Dennis Otuaro has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is concerned with peace and security in the region, urging ex-agitators not to jettison federal government effort by cooperating with the government.
Newly appointed PAP boss, Otuaro disclosed during a consultative interactive stakeholders meeting with the 2nd phase ex-agitators in Warri, under the theme ” Fostering Consolidating and collaborating for the peace, security, stability & development of the Niger Delta region ”.
He noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is very serious on peace and security as well as infrastructure development of the Niger Delta region.
That he was appointed on due diligence by Mr. president, knowing that he believed in his antecedents by helping him to manage the federal amnesty programme on behalf of Mr. President.
He told the delegates that his administration will look into complains of beneficiaries who were short-changed in the programme. That the office would take time to sort out all complains and issues of multiple BVN which causes payment problems.
That he said that in some camps, especially in Bayelsa and Delta, theeaders are death and there are controversies of who to inherit the financial benefits between his children and members of their camps.
He however, appealed to varius group’s to exercise patience by maintaining the existing peace in the region.
He assured delegates that he would ensure major immediate challenges being faced by leaders and their boys in the programme to carry every body along.
Many delegates who spoke applauded the new PAP boss and assured him of total commitment and support to maintain the existing peace.
They said the appointment of Dr. Dennis Otuaro is like return of former PAP boss, Dr. Kingsley Kuku who showed real readiness to accommodate and solve the region’s numerous problems of the youths in Niger Delta region.
