![]() WARRI-A football referee today issued Popular Sports Presenter with the Delta Rainbow Television in Warri, late Timi Ebikagboro a “Red Card” Signalling his end in Sports. This is coming shortly after the Nigeria Union of Journalists; Delta State Council defeated the Seadogs 1-0 and drew with Nana Primary School, the Alma Mater of the deceased in Novelty Football Match which held was at the Warri City Stadium today. The Delta State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists,Comrade Michael Ikeogwu paid glowing tribute to the late Timi Ebikagboro who he described him as a “dogged fighter.” “NUJ will miss him. He was one of the most widely known sports journalist that we have. He left when we needed his experience dearly to impact on the younger generations. The State Council miss him dearly but our solace lies in the children he left behind. We pray God to continue the family and give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. May his Soul rest in peace.” The Delta State Chairman of the Sports Writers Association, SWAN Comrade Azuka Raph Chiemeka noted that the death of late Timi Ebikagboro came to SWAN as a rude shock. Chiemeka stated that the late Ebikagboro always spoke the truth no matter whose ox is gored. According to Chiemeka,” He built a personality not for himself but for the Country. He gave his selfless service to humanity. He left a very big vacuum. May God give us the strength and grace to bear the loss.” The General Manager of Delta Rainbow Television,DRTV Warri, Mr. Tunde Omonode who was represented by the Head of Department(News&Current Affairs), Dr. Godwin Orhoadahwe also paid a glowing tribute to the late Timi Ebikagboro. As part of activities marking the burial ceremony of the decease which will take place tomorrow in Ogbein-Ama in Bomadi Local Government, a Service of songs will be held today at his Jeddo residence in Okpe Local Government Area by 4pm. |
