Academic activities have been put on hold at the Federal Science and Technical College Ikare-Akoko in Ondo State, as academic and non academic staff embarked on protest.

The protesting staff have also banned the principal of the school, Dr. Mrs Muyibat Olodo from entering the school as a result of what they called poor welfare.

They carried placards showing clearly their demand which is ‘Olodo Must Go’.

The chairman of the school unit of Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, Mr Olutoye Akinlabi on behalf of the staff accused Dr. (Mrs) Olodo of regularly forcing staff to work till late at night, reducing staff duty tour allowance from N12,000 to N5,000, nepotism, collection of illegal fees from students, selling of low quality mattresses to students at exorbitant rate and  malicious redeployment of staff among other things.

A peace meeting called by leadership of the workers union from Akure was deadlocked as both parties could not agree on resolution.

On arrival, the state Chairman of ASCSN, Comrade Suraju Abileko and the state secretary, Soladoye Ekundayo appealed to the staff to allow them have a meeting with the principal.

After the closed door meeting with the principal that lasted several hours, a communique was issued, which the principal refused to sign.

This infuriated the labour leaders and thereafter directed the staff to be picketing  the school on a daily basis until the issued is resolved.
