Burutu Local Government council chairman, Chief (Dr). Julius Takme has swiftly responded to the outbreak of cholera epidemic , yesterday in riverine affected communities by launching a sensitization tour and distribution of drugs worth millions of naira.
The council boss who was accompanied by a team of medical personnels headed by Dr. Brown and the council vice Chairman Chief (Mrs) Georgina Evah, supervisory councillor fior health, Dr. Brown Ebikon Igbaipike, Secretary, Primary Health Center visited several communities, including Ofougbene which two patients have been reportedly dead over the cholera outbreak.
The team worked together to educate the people on the importance of proper hygiene and preventive measures to combat the disease.
During the visit, Dr. Takeme urged residents to seek immediate treatment at the health centers, which are fully stocked with necessary medications. He expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and assured the public that all health centers in the affected areas are adequately supplied with drugs to help control the outbreak.
In response, Comrade Andrew Yepade, the Chairman of Ofougbene Community, thanked Dr. Takeme for his prompt response.
Other team members include Hon. Ebipadewei Pondy Stainless, host councillor to the local government headquarters, Chief of Staff to the council chairman, Hon. Sunny Perekeme, Vice Chairman, PDP, Burutu LGA, Mr. Mark Okou , Dr. Brown Ebikon Igbaipike, Secretary, Primary Health Center and others
