A member of the newly inaugurated State universal basic education SUBEB, Mr. Paul Kurugbe has cautioned education secretaries, principals in the state to shun all forms of illegal and unauthorized fees collection from pupils and ensure strict compliance of academic curriculum and punctuality of staff in the state.
Mr Kurugbe made the warning during an exclusive interview with Daily Watch in Asaba, shortly after an inaugural meeting, chaired by the board Chairman, Mr. Sunny Ogwu with the education secretaries from the Delta South senatorial district at his office.
His words ” the board has identified vices which will not be treated with kid gloves. These vices have become the bane of our primary educational sector and His Excellency is poised on eradicating these ills, they include, illegal or unauthorized collection of fees, staff absenteeism, lack of commitment and dedication to service, insubordination and so on”
He disclosed that SUBEB board school inspection team would pay unscheduled visits to schools during school hours across the state.
He further stated that the commitment and dedication to service is a panacea to a brighter future for the pupils as the state government and other agencies are investing so much on the future of the Delta Child.
“I want you to be very committed, dedicated and take your work seriously. The governor has given a marching order to pay unscheduled visits to all your schools and defaulting workers will be treated accordingly” he asserted.
