YENAGOA- The people of SILGA constituency 4 in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Bayelsa State is seeking the face of God to tackle the issue of insurgency plaguing the area for decades.
The area famous for crime, insurgency and pipeline vandalism comprising oil rich Korokorosei, Ikiebiri, Koloama, Olugbobiri, Ogboinbiri, Azuzuama, Lobia and Furupa communities was handed over to God during a three day crusade.
The three day crusade organized by the Speaker of Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Konbowei Benson and under the ministration of Uyo based evangelist Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai attracted worshipers hoping for the fruit of womb, spiritual restoration and financial breakthrough.
Declaring the crusade open, Konbowei said the crusade is the first of its kind in the area and is expected to establishe spiritual awakening and unite the people to achieve common sustainable development.
Speaking further, he thanked members of the central planning committee, plumbers, electricians and carpenters and other site workers that worked hard to get the venue ready ahead of the commencement of the event.
“We have been praying for such an event to take place in our constituency and I think it is God’s timing now. God wants to do something significant for the people of Southern Ijaw Constituency 4, this time around.
Delivering a sermon tagged “putting an end to premature death”, Rev. Dr. Ukpai handed the community to Jesus Christ saying it is the only way the area would be librated from the shackles of darkness.
Accompanied by Royal Highnesses and Chiefs from the area, Ukpai declared SILGA constituency 4 free from voodooism and paganism, prophesying that whoever returns to such act would meet a miserable end.
In course of the crusade, over 500 testifiers received healing from spinal ache, arm pain, stomach ache and breast cancer, while over 300 received blessing for the fruit of the womb.
He called on the people of the area to embrace education as it is the only way through which a people can prosper in 21st century Nigeria.
“The problem with Nigeria is the ignorance in the church. The country is where it is today because many Christians have chosen the part of ignorance.
” Such ignorance is as a result of Christians failing to acquire education and read the Bible. So for SILGA constituency 4 to move forward, the youths must embrace education.
“I see something different coming to the area through this crusade, being the first of its kind in the area. I strongly believe that after this crusade, constituency 4 will never remain the same.
“There is something that is about to happen that men cannot understand. We may not know what is going to happen, but I think after this crusade, we will see things unfolding in constituency 4.
Also speaking, chairman of the central planning committee, Rev. Tuesday Emmanuel said “I think this is an eternal investment that the Speaker is embarking upon.
“The Speaker has heart for his people. He is actually so concerned with what has been happening in the constituency, in terms of security on the waterways and other associated vices that have been going on in the area before now. It has been so bad that even well meaning citizens from the area find it difficult to come home without adequate security.
“And that calls for concern on the part of the Speaker who is from the area, hence, this crusade to attract God’s mercy and grace to the area with a view to wooing investors to the area.”
