Residents who spoke on anonymity  with Daily Watch at the flash point Merogun community that the police area commander in Warri did not give the actual briefing to his boss at Asaba on the death record. Saying that the police is either playing security issue with a kid glove or are not on ground.

According to Daily Watch finding, on the 1st Ocober Independent day celebration, the cult gangs killed three youths, two male and one female. This threw the community into tumult as blood flow freely on the tarred road of Merogun of victims ripped with bullet wounds.

A n eye witness who preferred to be anonymous said, ‘’ The whole crisis started as a result of a girl who was going between two cult gang leaders, Black Axe and Vikins. The fight has been on for months until the October Independent where the killing started with both rival cult groups carrying high sophisticated and assorted riffles, freely killing themselves. On the 3rd day of the fight, there was a reprisal killing by their opponent where one of cult leaders was killed together with the girl at the center of the controversy. This brought to the casualty to five.

‘‘Government of Delta state should treat this street cultism issue seriously as it affects the safety of lives and property in the affected communities. As I am speaking with street cultism is stronger and higher than campus cultism. They are at the same time the kidnappers and armed robbers’’ a source lamented.

Meanwhile, on Sunday afternoon while filling this report, Daily Watch called residents at the warring cult youths in Merogun in Warri and confirmed the tension has calmed down. But our source added, ‘‘We do not know the next plan by the rival cult gangs as wailing by mourners still rent the air by family members of the victims.’’
