ORHOAKPOR – The Otoro primary school, Orhoakpor Community in Ethiope East local Government area of Delta State is in shambles as pupils are still sitting on the floor in this modern era while receiving lessons.
Daily Watch crew visited the school today ( Wednesday) to see the eye sore in some parts of the primary schools in Delta State which suffer in the same fate of dejection and abandonment by past successive and present administration as the communities have nobody in government house to cry to for help
What baffles people most is the Orhoakpor community. The community has six oil wells but yet the community does not feel the impact as an oil producing area as they are impoverished in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.
The infrastructures in the schools are nothing but poor because the roof is scattered and building is dilapidated.
There are no benches in the classrooms as hoodlums have allegedly carted away the few ones available in the school. There are also no doors, staff room and offices and burglary proofs in windows of the classrooms.
An indigene of the community, Mr Oghenevo Ochuko told our reporter that ‘‘We are an oil producing community in Ethiope East LGA of Delta State. But we are suffering like foreigners in Delta. There are no access roads, portable water supply while the only health centre lacks the necessary medical facilities with no little or no manpower. Where is DESOPDEC presence in our village. ?’’ he quarried.
He called on the Delta State governor Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa to come to the rescue of the community primary school and other important projects to enable them feel part of Delta State just like every other community in the state.
