WARRI-As over twenty thousand defectors from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State scramble for membership cards of the All Grand Alliance Party, AGAP, at the Ubeji Grammar School playground in Warri Saturday, the leader of the PDP defectors, Hon Gabriel Ejejigbe has stated that they have no option than to defect because of the misrule being witnessed in the State and the factionalization that is tearing the APC apart.
He said the new members throng the venue in their thousands to get membership card in a scramble that saw so many people sustaining injuries, saying that with the huge revenue accruing to the state from all sources , massive unemployment, bad roads like the Ubeji main road, the Ifiekporo/NPDC/Zoo link abandoned road and other places, insecurity, lack of industries, hunger, starvation and depression still loom large in the State since the inception of the Governor Okowa administration.
Hon. Anthony Ejaife who spoke on behalf of the APC defectors said the arrival of AGAP in Delta state was a great relief to them because they are disillusionment with their party persistent unending internal crisis, saying that the “coming of AGAP is Divine and we are here to join the party because of its determination and Not Too Young to Run principles that seek to project young able men of outstanding qualities in various political positions with the requisite energetic zeal and fresh ideas that would move Delta state forward”.
Receiving the decampees, Delta State Chairman of AGAP Prince Alex Ayoro stated that with the wealth and revenue base of the state, Deltans should have no business with economic hardship and suffering in the midst of plenty if not for bad government and leadership, saying that we need to change the narratives to put smiles on our faces by removing the old fashioned analogue politicians to young vibrant digital compliant and brilliant youths desirous of ensuring and enthroning good governance.
Prince Ayoro, welcome the defectors into AGAP as one family members out to take the state out of the economic quagmire and political shenanigans even as he charged them to ensure they get their voters cards and be prepared to flush out the political deadwoods that have brought Delta state to its kneels in the comity of states in Nigeria.
