Ahead of the November 16 governorship poll,
political stakeholders from ward two in Southern Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa State have re-affirmed their resolve to vote massively for the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Douye Diri in the area.
The stakeholders came up with this during the inauguration of a 10 man PDP Grassroots Movement Committee at Oyoama Community, adding that their support for Senator Diri is based on his sincerity of purpose and sterling leadership qualities exhibited as a House Representatives member and later as a Senator.
The cordinator of the grassroots movement, Mr. Saiya Iyenimi Pekedeimini while inaugurating the committee said the developmental projects, policies and programmes of the PDP are visible for all and have direct impact on the lives of the people of the area.
He said: “The PDP has come to stay in Southern Ijaw because of the many footprints it has left in our area. Take the Niger Delta University in Amassoma for example, it was a PDP government that brought it to our land. You can now drive to Amassoma today, it was PDP government that made it possible.
“We drove to Ayama today, that is because a PDP led government was determined to construct the Yenagoa-Oporoma road which the Federal government failed to do for us. So for these good things to continue to come to us, we must vote massively for the PDP.”
Also speaking, the chairman of the PDP in Southern Ijaw Ward two, Chief Abassa Kuromotimi, said there is no room for the opposition party in the area, urging members of the committee to be peaceful and conduct themselves properly while carrying out the door-to-door campaign.
He further urged the committee members to mobilise people from the area to vote massively for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and expressed the confidence that the party has already won the election in the area despite the campaign of lie and deceit the opposition is planning to embark upon.
He expressed gratitude to the members of the committee for their show of solidarity, stressing that with their support victory will be sure.
Chief Kuromotimi maintained that the PDP candidate Senator Douye Diri is an experienced administrator who has been tried and trusted, expressed the believe that the party and its candidate represent the overall interest of the Ijaw people.
Members of the 10 man committee are: Mr. Iyinimi Saiya – Coordinator, Elijah Promise – Deputy coordinator, Otolo Precious – Secretary, Abassa Kurotimi, Timipere Yaro, Barr. Julius Kuraideidei – Publicity Secretary, Sariki Talkwell, Taribi Andy, Alaowei Collins and Salayoun Igburu.
