A 25 years old Nigerian, Mr. Chiemezie Odika is seeking for asylum in Italy after his narrow escape from his village over his refusal to take over from his aged father to serve an age long ancestral deity being worshiped by the Community.
This was made known recently by Mr. Odika, the asylum seeker who hailed from Ingbele Community in Uguta Local Government Area of Imo State through a statement issued by him which was made available to Journalists..
According to him, he suppose to take over from his father – a native Doctor who is already aging, adding that taking over from his aged father involved human sacrifice which is against his religion as a Christian. “And if I had gone ahead to make that sacrifice on that September 15, that faithful day which is often done every year of that month, souls could have been lost but I turned it down to follow the path of Christ because I fear God Almighty.
” And also after ignoring the King order to serve the aged long deity, I ran to the Police for help, they choose not to rescue me but denied me. saying that there is nothing they could do.
Mr. Odika explained that because of this refusal, the King barred him from the Village and gave him two days to move out of the Community, warning that failure to leave could cause his life.
According to him, ” The major reason, I have no option than to escape from the Community and my country as all was set to eliminate me by my kinsmen for the Sacriflce to the deity to pave way for another person the deity chooses.” He stated.
