AGBARHO- The Delta State Local Government rescheduled election in Agbarho town in Ughelli North local government council area went on peacefully; even though the main opposition party All Progressive Congress (APC) leadership boycott the elections in the rescheduled two councils over what they described as manipulated results by DSIEC across the state.
Voting materials brought by DSICE officials at Agbarho town hall in Ughelli North LGA of Delta State were distributed to various units of the three wards at about 10;30 under tight security.
In Ohori village, the home town of Chief (Hon) Solomon Awhinahwi, the federal law maker representing Ughelli North/South and Udu federal constituency. After accreditation of the voters by DSIC Adhoc staff, voting commenced by 11; 30. There was large number of queue of voters at the polling unit N0.8 ward 2 to exercise their franchise right.
Also in ward one and ward three, election was peaceful as women were singing and dancing while voting for their candidates.
After casting his vote in Ohori unit No.8 ward two, Chief (Hon) Solomon Awhinahwi while speaking to newsmen had attributed the large turnout recorded as result of series of campaigns carried out by PDP before the election. He lauded the people for the peaceful manner they conducted themselves during the election. Adding that it was the same in order wards, describing this election as the most peaceful polls ever recorded in the history of Agbarho.
When asked APC decision to boycott the rescheduled election. He said ‘‘APC were not prepared for the election and that they are using that as an excuse to boycott the rescheduled poll by DSICE for fear of monumental loss at the poll’’
He called on PDP supporters to turn out enmass during the 2019 general election just as they did in the local government councils elections.
Another prominent PDP leader in Agbarho, Chief Akpos Edafevwotu was excited in the peaceful and large turnout of voters in Agbarho three wards. He said Delta State is PDP state and that the large turnout was as a result of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa SMART agenda which has distributed projects across the state.
