WARRI- Top management staff of the Petroleum Training Institute PTI, the national alumni body, and the student union government of the institute recently in separate interviews reacted to a publication in a national daily newspaper which alleged that, P.T.I. is a faculty of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun FUPRE, Delta State.
Mr. Brown Ukanefimoni Ass. Director Public Affairs Department who spoke in a media chat monitored online said that the publication is baseless. He hinted that for the purpose of setting the records straight, P.T.I. has never been a faculty neither it is going to be a faculty of FUPRE or any other university in the nearest future.
According to Mr. Brown the act which established P.T.I. in 1972 is still in force. PTI he went further “is an independently established Institution with a core mandate for the training of competent man power for the needs of oil and Gas industries in Nigeria”.
The National President of the PTI National Alumni Association, Engr. Augustine Garri Otokohwemu Uwedjorjevwe who also reacted to the alleged publication noted that the act which established PTI in 1972 is there for all interested parties to peruse.
Engineer Augustine the alumni boss explained in his statement that PTI is an autonomous institution. He emphasized that the act which established FUPRE did not say anything concerning PTI, he added.
Chief Sir Patrick Okhifo another alumnus of PTI, who is chairman organizing committee digital PTI project in his own reaction, observed that, the publication is in steady and capable of rattling some persons out of proportion.
According to Chief Okhifo, the presidential Media Aide in the person of Shehu Garba did not check very well before going to press. Chief Okhifo advised that the publication be treated as information that is dead on arrival.
Engr. Abraham Erikefe also an alumnus, the student union president, who also made their contributions while expressing reservation about the alleged publication disclosed that P.T.I, have made major breakthroughs in the technological advancement of off-shore dividing, production of knot crackers, paper shredders, feathering machine, corn threshers, automated wheel barrow, gas leakage censors and even the design and fabrication of modular refineries in the spirit and light of the local content act amongst others.
