The Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Fire Academy is established to tackle incessant fire outbreak and minimize collateral damage to both oll and gas industries as well as Universities, government parastatals and domestic homes in the country.
The Principal and Chief Executive officer of the PTI, Dr. Henry A. Adimula stated on Monday during the formal commissioning of the Fire Academy at Osubi campus, near Warri Delta state.
He said the country loses about N2.6 billion annually to fire incidences, irrespective of human loses due to lack of knowledge of fire outbreak management and fire safety.
He said the fire Academy is designed to tackle incessant fire incidences of both the oil and Gas sector as well other organized institutions and private homes.
According to him, “‘ PTI cannot remain silent in the face of fire havoc with collateral damage caused in both oil and Gas and the public sector . We have to establish Fire Academy to tackle this menace by training professional fire fighters'”
He noted that the training of fire Fighters with special bias for the Oil and gas Industry, adding that the Fire Academy will be the first of its kind in any training Institute like the PTI in Nigeria.
He called on the general public, especially the oil and Gas sector, other organizations and parents to send in their staff and wards for the Fire Academy to be trained as professional fire fighters ahead of the future.
He said that preventive safety measures for fire incidence which is far cut cost in fire outbreak than fighting the fire itself. He stated that in fire outbreak management every body is involved. The trained fire fighters play vital role in controlling fire outbreak
Chairman of ther occasion Dr. Alfred Okoigun and Special Guest of honour Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, speaker Delta State House of Assembly who is also the PDP Delta governorship candidate who was represented by his chief of staff Me. Ebenezer Okorodudu were both expressed profound gratitude to God and the principal/ CEO of the Petroleum Training institute Dr. Henry A. Adimula and management their excellent performance for actualizing the fire academy dream after 15 years foundation stone laying They also congratulated staff and management of PTI for 50th anniversary ceremony.
Dr. Alfred Okoigun, chairman pioneer graduand of the institute was excited for the growth of PTI as well as the establishment of Fire Academy.
The duo promised to give their best to support PTI as partners in progress at any time when the need arises.
Sheriff Oborevwori, PDP governorship candidate stated that education is among his top priority anf PTI will get the best attention when he becomes the executive governor of Delta state in 2023 after general election by the grace of God.
They admonished students of both PTI and the Fie Academy to put in their best to make the institute, their immediate families and the nation proud in the nearest future.
