The Principal and Chief executive officer of the Petroleum training Institute ( PTI) Effurun, Warri, Delta State, Dr. Henry A. Adimula had declared that with the level of quality modern manpower development training facilities,  quality of  lecturers and achievements so far attained,  the Petroleum Training Institute in Effurun, Warri,Delta state, Nigeria could compete with any other  capacity development training nstitutions across the globe..

Dr. Adimula disclosed during a press conference with journalists at the institute campus Tuesday, unveiling activities marking  the institute’s graduation ceremony coming  Saturday this week

He said that the institute had trained many graduates who are exploring their talents at many global oil industries He said since inception, the institute has graduated over 50,000 technologists and technicians in different disciplines

Dr. Adimula noted that PTI graduation ceremony is marked to showcase the achievements of the institute.

‘” At this year’s graduation ceremony scheduled for Saturday, 23rd October,2021, a total of 2,471 technologists and technicians will be awarded the Higher National Diplomas, National Diplomas and PTI General Certificates. Out of this number, 161 passed with distinction while 810 graduated with upper credit. The PTI graduates are well developed for the work pace situation with little or in-training on the part of the employers

According to the Institute’s principal, this year”s graduation lecture is tagged ” Petroleum Industry Act and Nigerian Oil and Gas Sector: prospects and challenges” will be delivered by Engr. Simbi K. Wabote, Executive Secretary, Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board ( NCDMB followed by lines of activities

He said that “the institute has achieved alot which include the accredited training body (ATB) for international welding and under water operations certification for welders by the international welders institute ( IWI) as well as a hub for National Skills Qualification’s Center ( NSQC)

” The federal government has given a nod to the Petroleum Training Institute to be the hub of the nation”s diving school as a bid to meet the growing demand in offshore oil and gas production as well as marine services This will address the dearth of internationally recognised certified in-country divers and boost local content capacity development and enhanced the nation’s exchange reserve. The institute has installed Drlllsim 6000 and Tessin 5000 which are the latest in the oil drilling and production in its bid to on par with International best practices in the oil and gas industry

” The Institute has collaborated with the oil producers trader sector ( OPTS) in developing urs capacity as a a major oil industry stakeholder and with Bebel Energy, an international player in the oil and Gas industry to be the Center for International Well Control Forum (IWCF) both within Africa and beyond

” The institute has made great strides in developing local content capacity for the nation”s oil and gas industry, trained newly employed technical staff of Department of Peyroluem Resources ( DRR) over seventy seven (70) officers from the Nigerian Customs services and the training of sixty seven (67) youths from Urhobo kingdoms in computer hardware/software competency skills and other great achievements ” he noted.

However, the principal enumerated underfunding as a major challenge of the institute which he said is as a result of covid-19 pandemic that affected global economy and drop of global oil price.
