The Area Command, Warri Delta state, CSP Mohammed Muktar Garba has vowed to tackle armed robbery, kidnapping, drug peddling and other related crimes in Warri and its environs during ember months to make everywhere safe for residents in the state.
The police boss disclosed in his office Wednesday in Warri while fielding questions with journalists, said ‘ I have prepared for the embar months. We have sent out very serious message to my DPOs and my men have already carried out raiding of criminals hideouts in Warri metropolis. They will not have peace with me untill they all relocate from my territory.’’ He said.
Mr. Hohammed noted that aggressive raiding has commenced at various towns, urging the public to partner with the police to give useful about criminal activities as their identities will be protected.
He also admonished the police not to molest and extort money from commuters and other road users. ‘‘ Do not extort money from road users. Do not also search personal gadgets of phones and laptops of young men who go about their legitimate business.
‘‘Unless, a case of crime is established against a person with proper search warrant. Police do not have the right to stop and carry out search on laptops and phones of innocent youths. Cases of extortion, if reported to me, the the individuals or team will be punished according to police law’’ he warned.
