Police says gunmen kidnap Rivers lawmaker’s father

The police have confirmed the kidnap of the father of a Lawmaker representing Eleme Constituency Hon. Aforji Igwe.

Daily Watch gathered that the father of the lawmaker, Chief Aforji was abducted in his home, at Aleto community in Eleme LGA at about 6pm by four suspected armed men who came in a Prado Jeep shooting sporadically before taking their victim away.

The police public  relations officer ,Nnamdi Omoni said the lkidnap investigation is on to to rescue the victim.

Omoni assured the family  of the victim and the public to go about their business and that the police is on top of the incident.

Meanwhile, the chairman of Eleme LGA, Philip Okparaji said   his council will work hard to protect the lives and properties of the people in the community.


In another  related development, kidnappers terrorizing the East-west road of Choba in Rivers State  yesterday were arrested and  paraded by the Rivers State Police command.


The suspects were paraded by the new police commissioner, Mustapha Dandara who said  the police have recorded so much in one week of his resumption in  office in the state.


One of the suspects identified himself as Joshua Edet, a 25year old man who made  a shocking revelation on how they carried out their operations around the Rumuokini, Rumuosi, Rumuahaulu and Rumuigbo axis.


Joshua confessed that what led him to crime was his family background and that he started engaging in crime since 2011. Adding that he started the business with his younger ones and his girlfriend. He advised youths to shun crime and violence.
