The commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief (Hon.) Kelly Penawou, has lauded the developmental strides of the executive chairman, Bomadi local government area of Delta State, Hon. Rawlings Dagidi Andaye, describing his four months stewardship as excellent and marvellous.
Hon. Penawou made the commendation, Monday, during the Directorate of Local Government Affairs’ project monitoring and inspection visit to Bomadi, headquarters of Bomadi local government area of the state.
The elated commissioner and his project monitoring/inspection team, who visited various project sites for first-hand information about the rumoured performance of the council chairman, expressed optimism of the much anticipated transformation of Bomadi and environs under the Andaye-led administration.
Briefing newsmen at the end of the project inspection tour, Penawou urged Bomadians to give the council boss the needed support and encouragement to enable him continue with his good job without unnecessary distractions.
“This is awesome and marvellous! Barely four months in office, he has done all these projects and I’m very much proud of my chairman of council. This is not because I’m from Bomadi local government or he is the chairman of my council area, it’s about the fact that he is using the resources judiciously and prudently just like what Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori is doing at the state level.
“I have been to places but I see a young man who’s stemming to serve here, a young man who is making a mark to leave a legacy behind. Hon. Dagidi Andaye has done very well and I urge all council chairmen to key into Gov. Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E. Agenda.
“If I may score him in terms of performance, I will give him 100% because he has done excellently well within a short period in office.
“I urge Bomadians to give him all needed support and encouragement; they should avoid unnecessary distractions meant to discourage his good plans for the people of the local government area.
“On the state government, I work with Gov. Oborevwori closely and from what I have seen so far, the governor has done over 90% of his campaign promises, and that’s the truth.
“Gov. Oborevwori is a prudent manager of resources and he hates eye services. Everybody is seeing what he’s doing and I urge all Deltans to give the governor the needed support”, he said.

In the same vein, the director inspectorate and monitoring services of the Directorate of Local Government Affairs, Mrs Priscilla Enyeregba, the director planning, research and statistics, Mr Paul Oyeye and the director of local government affairs, Mrs Benedicta Emasegbe, all attested to the fact that the projects inspected were mega projects that were unmatched in any other council area ever visited by the inspection team.
However, projects inspected include the 1,000 capacity Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori Ultra-modern Multi-purpose Event Centre, Residential Building for Vice Chairman, Model Chapel building at Council Secretariat, ongoing construction of concrete pavement at Council Secretariat and the rehabilitated Pavilion at Council Secretariat.
Others include completed residential building for high court judge, ongoing rehabilitation of the High Court chambers/complex, ongoing High Court access road, Residential quarters for council’s principal officers, ongoing renovation of I.A. and accountant’s office block, ongoing construction of Internal Auditor’s block and among others.
In his words of commendation, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Bomadi local government area, Hon. Keneke Godbless, thanked God for sending Hon. Andaye to the council area to change the ugly narrative, stressing “he is touching every area of our lives, he’s putting smiles on the faces of both young and old”.
*What prompted my Decision to embark on devtal projects—Hon. Andaye
Hon. Andaye, who earlier rendered his stewardship to the team at the Chairman’s Conference Hall, Council Secretariat, averred that the M.O.R.E. Agenda of Gov. Oborevwori informed his decision to embark on his developmental strides at the grassroot.
“I have a boss and principal, the governor of Delta State, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, who is workaholic. Having spent time with him and knowing his desire for development, who came up with the M.O.R.E. Agenda when elected into office, I decided to follow his footsteps.
“So, the moment I became local government chairman, I deemed it necessary to replicate this M.O.R.E. Agenda in Bomadi local government area.
“In summary, what prompted me to embark on the developmental strides in this local government area is as a result of the M.O.R.E. Agenda of Gov. Oborevwori”, he said.
