The Student Union Government(SUG) of Delta State Polytechnic Ozoro led by Comrade Gabriel Udemude has disassociated themselves from the plan by NANS, NADESTU and NAPS to shutdown the school over facilities upgrade.
In a statement signed by the Student Union Government and made available to Daily Watch News stated that, “We write to draw your attention to several posts and publication being circulated on the social media and the locking of our school gate today by NANS, NADESTU and NAPS and on the plan second protest against upgrade charges made by the Polytechnic authority”
According to Comrade Udemude, Delta State Polytechnic Ozoro, Student Union Government has disassociate themselves from the protest and call on NANS, NADESTU and NAPS to refrain from interfering in the internal affairs of the Delta State Polytechnic Ozoro.
Comrade Udemude also stated that, the union had extensive negotiation with the Polytechnic authority and arrived at the current charges to upgrade facilities in the Polytechnic.
He furher said that, “We want to put it on record that NANS, NADESTU and NAPS are controlled by elements that cannot be traced as students of any higher institution in Nigeria while some of them are factional group who are yet to resolved their dispute”.
He also noted that, the Delta State Polytechnic Student Union Government cannot do business with such collection of individuals, saying that the DSPZ-SUG and the learning students will continue to give the Polytechnic management the desired cooperation and support in their efforts to recover the 2019/2020 academic session and to stabilize the academic calendar of the Polytechnic.
He also commended the efforts of the Polytechnic authority to upgrade the current facilities in compliance with the convid19 prevention protocols.
He therefore urge the general public to disregard any information that did not emanate from the Delta State Polytechnic Ozoro, Student Union Government, noting that the purported NANS, NADESTU and NAPS protest has no basis and does not enjoy the support of the Polytechnic SUG.
He therefore warned that, any person or group of persons who engage in any form of protest again in Delta State Polytechnic Ozoro should be treated as social miscreants disturbing the peace of the institution, he stated.
