AKURE- People of Ondo state are said to be fuming and gnashing their teeth less than two years after Gov Mimiko of the PDP left the saddle over the series of increment in charges and fees payable all over the state.
Daily Watch investigations confirmed that the people are said to be angered by the way and manner the new Government they voted in with joy and fanfare has gone about collecting monies in the name of charges, fees etc from the people who are predominantly civil Servant.
Just Less than three weeks ago, pregnant women in the state went on near rampage over the astronomical increase in the hospital bills on delivery in the state which was increase with over 100mpercent from the charges in place before the coming of the Rotimi Akinrodolu Administration.
Daily Watch confirmed that this new Week makes it precisely four months after the state Governor Rotimi Akinrodolu visited the Ajasin University Akoko with a Promise to elevate and restructure the University to greater height but shockingly has just commenced his promise of a greater height with a 500 percent increase in the fees charged by the state owned institution from 25 thousand Naira paid during the Mimiko administration to a whopping 120 to 180 thousand naira now depending on the Faculty or if a fresher.
Already, tension is said to be in the air as the students have vowed to resist the 500 percent hike which the pro Chancellor of the Institution Dr.Tunji Abayomi described as highly comfortable and okay when compared to the prevailing realities on ground.
The Adekunle Ajasin university Akungba, Akoko by the increase now charges 180 thousand Naira from the former 25 thousand Naira for all fresher, 120 thousand Naira for students of Educational management while law, accounting and others are to cough out a whopping 150 thousand naira according to the new increase.
This new Increase coupled with others in the health and other sector seem to have hit a strain in the financial purse of the Ondo people who are presently said to be in very pensive mood over the severe charges and increase in almost everything in the state.
Attempts to speak to the Governor Media aide on the peoples angst over the increase in almost all government services since the conning of Rotimi Akinrodolu administration was not possible as at the Time of going to press but the PRO of the Adekunle Ajasin University Mr.Shola Imoru confirmed the increase to Daily Watch on Phone.
