The Ondo state chairman of Social Democratic, Prince Oladele Ogunbameru has described the suspension of the party national chairman, Dr Olu Agunloye as timely and an antidote to purge the party of unholy happenings and make it stronger towards the coming elections.
Speaking with newsmen, Prince Ogunbameru said the suspension of Dr Agunloye went through due process as provided by the party’s constitution and ratified by the national executive council thus making legally biding.
It will recall the National Executive Committee of the Social Democratic Party, on Saturday, suspended the party’s National Chairman, Olu Ogunloye; and Secretary, Shehu Gabam, for alleged misconduct and unanimously appointed the party’s Deputy Chairman, Abdul Isaq, as interim party leader; and Simon Adesina as National Secretary, pending the outcome of its convention slated for April 27 – 29, 2022.
According to a communique signed by Isaq, after NEC’s meeting in Abuja, “the NEC observed the wanton disregard to the provisions of the SDP constitution especially Article 12.5 (iv) 12.2.2 (viii) and Article 9.4 to suspend some officers from the party.
“The NEC considered the various abuses of the constitution by the following under-listed officers and there agreed by majority to suspend Shehu Gabam and Dr Olu Ogunloye.
Prince Ogubameru frowned at the style of leadership of Dr Agunloye saying non of his actions was in the interest of the party and that is why the party was really progressing under his leadership.
He called on members to come together and work for the success of the party in the coming elections.
