* Urges Gov. Akeredolu to reward Ijaws with board chairman

Ijaw youths council (IYC) Western zone has commended the Ondo state governor Rotimi Akeredolu for the appointment of thee Ijaws in Ondo state into the Ondo state Oil producing area commission(OSOPADEC as board members.
In a press statement signed by Olu Derimon, Secretary and Lugard Izoukumor, Information Officer, IYC Western Zone on behalf of the western zone chairman Dr. Collins Doubra said, ”the Ijaw Youth Council; IYC, Western Zone has been inundated with the recent appointments approved by the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN on the OSOPADEC board.
”We have carefully reviewed the appointments, made by Gov. Akeredolu; hence, we congratulate: Mrs Odukale Mosun,
Mr Atuli Ikoto Agbara and Mr Victor Kole Doye who are Ijaw people saddled with the responsibility to represent the Ijaw Ethnic Nationality in Ondo State and also applaud the governor because this is the first in history for three Ijaw people to be appointed onto the board. And we are; indeed, grateful for it.
”However, as a sociocultural body empowered to speak for the socioeconomic and sociopolitical advancement of the Ijaw Nation, we feel even though three Ijaw people were appointed on the OSOPADEC board, still it does not reflect equity, fairness and inclusiveness. This is so because an Ijaw daugther or son ought to be appointed as Chairman of the board, which will indeed reflect equity, fairness and inclusiveness towards the Ondo of our dream.
”We, therefore, implore Gov. Akeredolu to take note or cognizance and give uttermost consideration for Ijaw person to be appointed Chairman on the OSOPADEC board in the future.” IYC said.
Cobtinuing, ”We appreciate Gov. Akeredolu for appointing three Ijaw people onto the board, while urging him to reward our people’s modest contributions politically and economically as it relates to the Chairman of OSOPADEC”
