- Says Burutu is an Island of no regret
Burutu Council chairman, Hon. Godknows Angele
WARRI- Chairman, of Burutu local government area, Hon. God knows Angele has revealed that His Excellency, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa would applaud him for supporting his chairmanship ambition during his unveiling of projects and other achievements within 100 days assumption of office.
The Burutu Council Chairman,Hon. God knows Angele made this assertion during a recent Burutu PDP leadership meeting in Warri, said ‘‘ I am not here to beat my chest. My joy is that His Excellency Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa had witnessed the rot the council area few weeks before my election. And I must say that His Excellency , Dr. Okowa will applaud me when he visits Burutu council headquarter again and his entourage”
Continuing ‘‘My party leaders, I have to tell you sincerely so far the message you sent me in Burutu as council chairman three months ago. I am very glad for the support you gave to me during and after the election. If not your support, it would not have been possible. I promised to continue to be loyal to the leadership of the party for the unity and progress of the party’’
He enumerated some of his achievements within three months into office which including rehabilitation of council chairman and vice chairman residential quarters, provision of constant power supply with a generating plant since assumption of office.
He noted that the office of the council chairman and that of the vice chairman residential quarters have been taken over by weeds and dirts like abandoned buildings. ‘‘The whole place looks like an abandoned buildings. I have put a facelift to the council chairman residential house and that of my vice chairman to modern building. I have also directed that as far as I remain as council chairman in Burutu, the people in Burutu should enjoy an uninterrupted power supply with the council’s generating plant.
‘‘ They said Burutu town cannot get drinkable pipe borne water, I called in the specialists and gave them a mandate to run the council Chairman’s office with the best drinkable water which was achieved within weeks’’ he said.
Others include the purchase of ten million naira worth of health equipment to be distributed to the health centres in the council area as well as recruitment of 120 women for environment department.
Angele noted that the criteria used for the employment of the women are possession of PVC’s. He said he would surprise the leaders of the party in the council area and the state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa in his 100 days in office unveiling of projects. He said Burutu is now an Island of no regret.
The party leaders applauded with claps of hands to the council Chairman Hon. Godknows Angele for reeling out heart rendering achievements within a short period.
However, the PDP leaders meeting comprised the immediate past council Chairman Chief Ebikeme Clark, son of the Niger Delta leader who was also present at the meeting that ran the council aground and other former council chairmen while Hon, Angele was counting his achievements so far.
