Okowa Lauds Ariguzo for winning 2017 Maltina teacher Award


ASABA-Delta State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has congratulated Delta Teacher, Mr. Felix Udochukwu Ariguzo, who emerged winner of the Maltina Teacher of the Year 2017.

Governor Okowa in a statement on Thursday in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Charles Aniagwu, lauded the gargantuan contributions of Ariguzo to the educational development of Delta State and Nigeria as a notable Biology and Chemistry teacher at Mastercare International School, Asaba, Delta State.


“the empowerment of teachers has always been our priority, more so, now that the United Nations has adopted it as the 2030 Sustainable Development Goal for Education.

“As a way of encouraging teachers for optimum performance, the welfare of teachers, including payment of salaries, promotions, training and sundry obligations, have continued to occupy centre stage in this administration, in spite of very limited resources in the midst of economic recession coupled with the huge workforce in the State.

Governor Okowa further said his administration would construct Teachers’ Development Centre for the training and retraining of teachers to ensure quality teachers in the school system.

He thanked Nigeria Breweries Plc, organizers of the Maltina Teacher of the Year Award for instituting the award, adding, that his administration will partner with the NUT to adopt similar approach in encouraging teachers who excel in their duties.
