The Federal Government of Nigeria has been blamed for not treating Ibeno, a major oil producing community in Akwa Ibom well, in terms of benefit from the natural resources derived from the Area.

The paramount Ruler of Ibeno Local Government Area, HRM Owong Effiong Archianga, who is also the National Chairman of Traditional Rulers of oil producing Communities of Nigeria TROMPCON, made this known to newsmen in his palace in Ibeno Local Government Area, citing total absence of federal government projects, non allocation of Oil Blocks to indigenes, or appointment into NNPC Board, added to be failed promise of a Modular Refinery to the area.

The TROMPCON monarch bemoaned the total deprivation of his community of all benefits and subjecting the people to economic and health hazards from atmospheric pollution gas flaring, environmental degradation and water pollution from oil spillage. He blamed the woes of the area on greedy politicians who are all out for self-aggrandizement rather than articulate the interest of the populace.

The Royal father however expressed the optimism that someday, God will raise a person who will champion the course of Ibeno, Akwa Ibom and Niger Delta in general.

According to him, Ibeno in Akwa Ibom State, is the goose that lays the Golden Egg, generating the bulk of the nation’s petroleum wealth but have nothing to show.

The royal father seized the opportunity to congratulate Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel on his success at the poll and subsequent swearing in as the second term Governor of the State and prayed God to him in his administration.

He also commended the Governor for reappointing the former commissioners as particular for appointing one of their sons, Mr Okpolukpm Ette in his cabinet.

He however, appealed to the president to use his second term to impact positively on the life of Ibeno people, concluding that, “all Nigerians needs most now is peace and security”, and wished same for Ibeno and Niger Delta as a whole.
