The Kuisimi community in Warri South West LGA of Delta state has appealed to President Muhammad Buhari and Delta state governor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to call NPDC/NECONDE Jv to obey court ruling to allow their community enjoy host community rights to avoid breakdown of law and order.
The Kusimi Development Movement (KDM) in a communique at the end of a one hour zoom meeting signed on behalf of KDM by Smart Kusimi, Coordinator, Tarekebinna Ekereke, Secretary and Ezonfade Zikorebai, Communications Director respectively, have appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari, and the Delta State Governor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to intervene and rescue Kusimi Community from injustice and brazen oppression
The statement reads in parts, ”We are appealing to
President Muhammadu Buhari, and the Delta State Governor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to intervene and rescue Kusimi Community from this injustice and brazen oppression and allow the community benefit without breaking down law and order in the state.
‘ We are tired of ‘NPDC and NECONDE’s divide and rule tactics as well as lackadaisical attitude to accord Kusimi Community its preferential benefits as a host Community” Kuisimi said.
The zoom one hour meeting meeting, according to the white paper had in attendance; Joseph Kusimi, Mr. Peter Dio, Izonfade Zikorebai, Favour Patrick, Joel Kenneth Kusimi, Samuel Kusimi, William Dio, Anita Taremi Kusimi and Esther Kusimi, which was centered on proffering ideas to sustainable community development.
The communique expressed regret by NPDC/NECONDE Jv of according Kusimi Community as a host Community even when there is a court judgment in favour of Kusimi to be given all commensurate benefits as host Community.
The following issues were addressed.
” (1) It, therefore, appealed to NPDC/NECONDE Jv federal government led by President Muhammadu Buhari, and the State Government led by Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to intervene and rescue Kusimi Community from this injustice and brazen oppression.
(ii) The meeting urged the judiciary to enforce preemptive action against the willful disobedience of NPDC/NECONDE Jv by flagrantly disobeying a judgment that declared Kusimi Community host status.
(iii) Furthermore, the meeting appealed to the leadership of Ijaw National Congress, well-meaning sons and daughters of Ijaw Nation as well as the international community to prevail over NPDC/NECONDE Jv for Kusimi Community to be accorded all preferential benefits as a host Community.
(iv) The meeting further highlighted sustainable community projects such as electrification, pipe borne water, peace bonus, G.M.O.U, contract, employment opportunities, health care facilities, community scholarships, reclamation, 30 house units as well as youth empowerment programs for capacity development, in Kusimi Community.
(v) In addition, the meeting lamented the continued underdevelopment and marginalization of Kusimi Community by NPDC/ NECONDE Jv and extensively deliberated on such meetings to be held for the future of Kusimi Community as it relates development and more importantly for it to accorded is host Community status as declared by a competent court of jurisprudence.
