Adams Oshiomhole and Godwin Obaseki

The grapevine is agog with gist that the ongoing political wrangling in Edo State between the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and the governor of the state, Godwin Obaseki will claim more victims in a couple of weeks from now.

Insiders told Daily Watch that the battle ground this time around will be shifted to the local government councils as Governor Obaseki is hell-bent on making away with all traces of Comrade Oshiomhole’s influence in his administration.

It was gathered that the governor is bowing to pressure from some quarters that he should be wary of the activities of some of the council officials who because of their closeness to the national chairman( who governed the state from 2008 – 2016) can cause some collateral damage to the incumbent governor especially as he gears up to get the ruling APC gubernatorial ticket.

To this end such council officials may be booted out of their position and replaced by those that are seen as loyalists of Governor Obaseki so as to ensure that he is in full control of the party structure in the state ahead of the primaries that may be coming up around mid 2020 Daily Watch was told.

Meanwhile, uneasy calm pervade all the 18 local government council secretariats as officials now await the weight and edge of the axe that is dangling over their heads.
