His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, Oba of Benin says if there is no peace and security, there can be no development and comfort in any nation.

The Benin Monarch who stated this when former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar paid him a courtesy visit in his Palace urged political leaders and indeed politicians to make it a priority to tackle the security challenges confronting Nigeria.

The Royal father attributed the high level of insecurity in the country to under developed economy, porous national boarders and disrespect for traditional values and norms.

The Oba of Benin advises political leaders not to waste the nation’s wealth and resources on politicking, and settlement of quarrels, instead it should be used to improve the welfare of ordinary Nigerians.

The Omo N’Oba frowns particularly at the incessant quarrels and squabbles at the legislative arm of government both at state and federal levels, and called on political leaders to endeavor to present honourable and responsible candidates for elective positions.

His Royal Majesty said as Royal Fathers, they will always pray for all politicians irrespective of their political leanings, pointing out that his wish is for God and the ancestors to produce a political leader who will enhance the welfare of the common man, respect traditional institution and make life better for the people.

While introducing the former Vice President, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, the Director-General of Atiku Campaign Organisation described the culture of Benin Kingdom as second to none in the world.

Addressing the Omo N’Oba, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar said he was in Edo State to consult with PDP members in the state regarding his presidential ambition, hence he considered it very important to pay homage to the Oba of Benin in his Palace to solicit for Royal blessings.

The Oba of Benin also received Prof. Babara Plankensteiner and her entourage with a charge to them to do everything possible to ensure the return of the stolen artefact in their country.

Oba Ewuare II wondered why it has been difficult to return the artefact to its original owner, assuring them that the Palace is much safer than any museum in the world to accommodate the art works.
