No project in sight: Shame! Okowa commissions cattle rearers office in Agbor



WARRI- Failed executive governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa today commissioned the Cattle Rearers Association’s Office in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area just as it reassured the people of the area that armed fulani herdsmen in the State will no longer kill its citizens wantonly.


The Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Security Matters, Chief Cassidy Iloba stated that the Nigerian constitution does not make provisions for business owners to resort to harassment, destruction of properties and even wanton killings of bonafide citizens in the State under the guise of grazing even as it allows citizens to ply their trades in any part of the country.

Chief Iloba  used the medium to advise aggrieved persons affected by the activities of herdsmen in the State to channel their grievances to the newly commissioned Cattle Rearers Association’s Office through the relevant Security agencies.
In a remark, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Non-Indigenes, Alhaji Mukta appealed to the herdsmen to remain law abiding as Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has been proactive in putting machinery in place to ensure their safety with that of their cattle in the State.

The National Chairman of Cattle Rearers Association, Alhaji Abdulahi Bello Bodejo earlier in his address commended the Okowa led administration for its commitment towards delivering the dividends of democracy irrespective of tribal or religious sentiments in the State.
Bodejo who was represented by Umar Kabir Hadejia noted that despite some few reported clashes between herdsmen and farmers and resulting to unfortunate deaths, the relationship between herders and sedentary farming communities have been harmonious in Delta.

The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Zanna Mohammed Ibrahim who was represented by CSP, Godwin Origho, the Sarikin Fulani Bauchi and Jigawa States, Alhaji Dogo and Alhaji Umar Kabir Hady as well as the National Secretary Miyetti Allah Association, Engr, Saleh Alhasan respectively delivered goodwill messages where they harped on the need for peaceful coexistence between the herdsmen and farmers.

The people of Agbor town, however, advised arms bearing Fulani herdsmen to leave the town or face their wrath.

The Agbor people also asked genuine herdsmen to report all undesirable elements in their midst to law enforcement agents.

They commended the SSA on Security for his effective coordination of activities of the herdsmen and expressed optimism that his efforts will yield positive results in no distant time.
