The national leadership of the Niger Delta Nonviolence Agitators Forum (NDNAF) led by Comrade Wisdom Ikuli hails former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan over his smooth working relationship with President Mohammadu Buhari.
The group through its spokesman, comrade Amatoru Victor Torubeni in a statement issued earlier today and made available to Daily watch, described Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as a symbol of peace; a lead light in Africa and father of modern African democracy.
The body use the medium to acknowledge his numerous bridge building role which is of significance to the present Administration, as together the former President, other past Presidents and Heads of State held series of meetings with the current President to quell the agitations of the youths with a well thought out resolution of the crisis as evident in the formation of the judicial panel of enquiry with a mandate to closely look into every petition as related to police brutality and human right offences.
The enviable relationship according to them, between former President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and the current President is believed to be what has helped to champion the easing down of the #ENDSARS protest in Nigeria and by extention the relative peace in Africa.
NDNAF leadership said. the #ENDSARS protest by youths in some parts of the country is genuine and well intended as their demands relating to the dastardly act carried out by some session of the Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) as pointed out by the protesting youths is long over due.
The body frowns at the excesses of those miscreants who have hid under the covering of SARS to perpetuate evil to innocent Nigerians who go about their duties lawfully. It further said, if the duty bound police officers were professional in the discharge of their duties the recent agitation which brought about flashpoints of violence would not have been witnessed.
As mediator of peace, the body further commend the unwavering efforts of Former President President Goodluck. It recognizes the pivotal role the elsewhile President played in ECOWAS delegation that mediated between the opposing party to bring together the Mali opposition movement.
‘Mali’s President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, we are absolutely sure is very much pleased as well as several religious leaders, ‘ they said. ‘We can not at this point be quick to forget the representatives of the Presidential majority coalition and as well as the leaders of the 5 June movement whose participation in the process brought about normalcy in the people’s republic of Mal’, the group acknowledged.
The peace builder, former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as the ECOWAS special envoy to Mali meticulously mediated in missions to Bamako, Mali; a commitment that helped to restore normalcy to the entire country after a protracted socio-political crisis they informed the inquisitive audience.
In furtherance, NDNAF commends the efforts of Dr Jonathan for leading the African union Observer mission to Tanzania to conduct the just concluded peaceful, all inclusive credible polls in that country.
The body then affirm its position that Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan who recently led the African union Elections Experts mission deployed to Tanzania remains a bright light in Africa democratical development. He is hitherto been described as a global icon that symbolizes the modern democracy in Africa. Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is to us the contemporary father of Africa because of the irreplaceable and indispensable role he is presently playing in the African Continent.
The NDNAF concluded by saying that they will continue to interface with President Goodluck Jonathan; leaders from the Niger Delta and other parts in Nigeria who has genuine intention to promote peace and put an end to bad governance and corruption in the nation.
They further emphasize that peace and tranquility can be achieved via the promotion of professional ethics as related to the extant laws establishing the Police force and the reformation of the entire police architecture in Nigeria.
