Ijaw Youths have called on Itsekiri Itsekiri Elders from the Delta State region to withdraw the legal action against the composition of the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) as constituted by the Federal Government.
Ijaw Youths under the aegis of the Movement for the Survival of the Ijaw Ethnic Nationality(MOSEIND) in the Niger Delta said the withdrawal of the legal action instituted by Itsekiri elders will further cement the peace and unity of all ethnic nationalities in the region, if the region must achieve the needed development.
The group in a statement signed by its National Secretary, Amb. Winston Cotterel Amain, and made available to daily watch, said the action of some Itsekiri elders who have taken the Federal Government to court over the composition of the NDDC board will only portray the region as not united, asserting that all well-meaning Niger Deltans should be more concerned about the wellbeing and Development of the area.
The group Secretary emphasized the need for unity amongst all Ethnic Nationalities in the Region, adding that with unity, the common enemies of Marginalization and underdevelopment will be defeated.
Amb. Amain noted that the Itsekiri elders who are hell bent on stopping the NDDC board from being confirmed should note that their Kinsman, Bismarck Rewane, who have just been appointed as member of the Economic Recovery Team can also be kicked against through similar litigations and other means.
Amain stressed that MOSIEND as a body will soon take decisive actions against those fanning the embers of discord in the already maligned Niger Delta Region.
Amb. Amain urges leaders of all Ethnic Nationalities in the Region to promote the growth and Development of the area than infighting.
