Navy adopts sporting to improve personnel mental/physical capacity

YENAGOA- The Nigerian Navy, has unveiled its newly -constructed basketball, volleyball and long tennis courts, for use by the personnel of the Nigeria Navy Ship Delta to enhance productivity.

The facilities was constructed by the  Commander, NNS Delta as part of activities marking the send -off of the outgoing Flag Officer Commanding, Central Naval Command, Yenagoa, Rear Admiral Abubakar Al-Hassan.

Performing the opening of the facilities, Al-Hassan, said the sports facilities were meant to improve the physical fitness of the officers and men of the command.

“The sports facilities will also go a long way in ensuring that their health is in perfect shape for military operations .

“When you exercise, it impacts on your health positively, both in physical and mental alertness of the officers and men.

“These courts were actually done by the Commander NNS Delta who have shown a good leadership quality. He used the resources within the command to really construct these courts.

“This is a welcome development and we salute him. The facilities will ensure that personnel in the command can carry out their sporting activities within the command, not outside anymore,” he said.

He said following the directive of the Chief of Naval Staff in sports, the NNS Delta under the CNC, have shown commitment in the directive.

The outgoing FOC, said the sports facilities is open to the host communities, as part of civil military relationship.

He advised the people, to always avail information to security agencies, as to stop criminality in the region.
