NASS Election: Alaye declares for southern Ijaw federal constituency seat

A former student union paliamentarian, Hon. Alaye Tari Theophilus has his intension to run for the Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency, promising to harness the economic potentials of the area to improve the lot of his people when elected.

 

Hon. Alaye who is vying under the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP), said that since the inception of democracy in 1999, the people of the constituency have been suffering from misrepresentation at the lower house of the National Assembly.

 

The event which held at the Amassoma Town hall, witnessed large turnout of youths across the constituency, support groups, women groups, chiefs and supporters of his course from the area who pledged their support to the his aspiration. 

 

Alaye was quoted as saying “If I am elected as Reps member, I will not only sponsor bills that will better the lots of my people but also bargain to give education and employment in the area adequate attention, I will pursue youth development programmes to reduce poverty and social vices.

 

“I visited all the communities during my consultation and have the records of their needs which have not been fulfilled till now. If those wants are not lacking, I will not come out to contest. I promise that those needs will be over if am elected”, he said.

 

He further promised to constitute a project monitoring committee that would monitor all the federal projects in the constituency.

 

Hon. Alaye also commended the governor of Bayelsa State, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson for his wonderful performance, noting that the leadership style of the governor has led to rapid development in rural areas in the state.
