The police in Delta state has confirmed the arrest of three suspects over the assasinating of a youth leader and APC chieftain Chief Sylvester Eferhobo who was axed to death on Sunday in Agbarho community in Ughelli North LGA of Delta state.
The Police in Agbarho station confirmed the arrest. The DCO at Agbarho police station who spoke with this reporter said, ”Three Persons suspected to be connected to the gruesome murder of Chief Eferhobo have been arrested and the matter transferred to the Delta State Police Command, Asaba”.
The sad incident took place on Easter Sunday night , April 9,2023 at Agbarho in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State
Daily Watch gathered that Chief Eferhobo who also a strong member of All Progressive Congress (APC) met his untimely death on Sunday night not quite long he arrived home to meet with his family when he got a surprise friendly call between the hours of 8.pm and 9.pm asking him to come outside his house to attend to an urgent issue unknowing to him that they were assassins . And immediately, he step outside, his killers who were fully armed ,shot at him several times but the bullets did not did not have any effect on him, at that point, the Assailants decided to dragged him to a near bush where they used battle axe to axed him to death.
Effort made by family members and friends to save his life failed after being taken to a nearby Private Hospital and later to another private Hospital where he was confirmed death.
The death of Chief Eferhobo who recently was conferred with a Chieftaincy title by HRM Ajuwe Samson Ogugu 1, the Osuivie of Agbarho Kingdom is being linked to his Community, Oguname, Agbarho motor park and cult related issue of which there may likely be a reprisal attack.
As at the time of filing this report, there is tension in the Community over probable reprisal attack while most Shops within and outside the Agbarho market remain lock for fear of being attack by hoodlums.
In a telephone chat with this Reporter, the Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), said, the Police Force Headquarter, Asaba, is not aware but when this reporter visited Agbarho Divisional Police Station on Tuesday Morning of April 11,2023, the DCO confirmed the incident, adding that some Persons suspected to be connected to the gruesome murder of Chief Eferhobo have been arrested and the matter transferred to the Delta State Police Command, Asaba.
And since the killing of Chief Sylvester Eferhobo, friends and traditional Chiefs have been visiting the family to sympathize with the family especially with the wife who information had it that She is in a critical condition.
Meanwhile HRM Ajuwe Samson Ogugu 1, the Osuivie of Agbarho Kingdom has advised the youths not take the law into their hands but remain calm as the Police is currently investigating the matter.
