The Chairman, Interim Management Committee of Odigbo Local Government, Ore, in Ondo state, Hon Margret Akinsuroju while leading a walk against violent sex in Ore and other parts in the state.
Hon Margret and the Chairperson , Mrs Akinsinkun Rachael, and other female gender , comprising the students, National Youth Service Corps NYSC members and market women among others, observed a walk against rape .
The walk show which started from the council Secretariat, was taken through Lagos/Benin expressway, Olore palace, Ore cosmopolitan market, to other major areas in the metropolis.
During the rally, the Area Commander of the Nigeria Police Ore, ACP Olusegun Ajamolaya urged the people of the council area to make sure they report cases of rape in their environment.
According to him, this is the only way to assist the police to respond swiftly.
Also, the Olore of Ore, His Royal Highness Oba Olatomide Johnson, assured the council chairman that he would utilize strategies at his disposal to discourage his subjects against raping.
Mr Dele Lebi, who spoke for National Union of Road Transport Workers NURTW, said their members are descent people , and promised that, the Union will assist in campaign against raping in the area.
