Free agent John Obi Mikel has reportedly attracted interest from an unknown Mexican top-flight club.
According to TUDN as reported by Goal.com, the Nigeria international could soon be playing his football in the Liga MX.
Mikel reportedly cut ties with Trabzonspor in March after the Turkish Super Lig continued as normal despite the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which has claimed close to 300 000 lives worldwide (as of 13 May 2020).
The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations champion spent much of his professional career at English Premier League club Chelsea with whom he won nine trophies, including the 2011-12 UEFA Champions League crown.
Mikel also enjoyed stints at Tianjin Teda in China and in the English Championship with Middlesbrough before moving to Turkey.
The 33-year-old has also attracted reported interest from Brazilian clubs Internacional and Botafogo.
