A man in his 60 years, identified as Moses Airagbonkpa fell off from the 5th floor storey building in Benin High court and died when when mistakenly lost his balance in the lift and slipped through the opening to the ground floor.
Daily Watch gathered that the sexagenarian died as a result of falling from the fifth floor of a building under renovation at the state high court.
Eye witness account disclosed that the sad incident occurred when the man, Moses Airagbonkpa, who had been part of a community team that came to the court on account of seeking for adjudication on a strife, had informed others that he wanted to ease himself.
However, unknown to him the spot he chose to carry out the task was some kind of a cul-de-sac and as he stepped on the spot (which is supposed to be a lift) he lost his balance and slipped through the opening to the ground floor.
An employee of the state Ministry of Justice(name withheld) disclosed: “We use to have a lift that has gone bad. This administration is fixing it. The company carrying out the renovation work removed the old lift and is still working on it.
“We were told that the man came to the court and wanted to ease himself. He went to where the lift is and fell through.” Our source said.
