Latest: Delta NUJ Mourns Journalist Ebikagboro

WARRI-The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council has to expressed its deepest pain over the sudden death of one of its members, Comrade Timi Ebikagboro.

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in a press statement  signed by comrade Michael Ikeogwu (chairman) and  Churchill Oyowe (Secretary) respectively and  made available to Daily Watch in Warri, said  ‘‘Timi Ebikagboro was a great Unionist who demonstrated excellent sense of loyalty in good and bad times. His active participation in the Union’s activities and promoting the ideals of the journalism profession will forever remain fresh in our memory.’’

The Council however described Timi Ebikagboro’s demise as colossal loss and truly unfortunate.

‘‘He was a fine and dependable journalist who carved a niche for himself in uplifting journalism practice and sacrificed so much for the profession even at the expense of his convenience and resources. Indeed, Timi Ebikagboro’s glowing attributes are virtues that call for emulation by all journalists.

‘‘Our hearts go to the immediate family for the Lord God Almighty to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. The Council will pay a condolence visit any time from now and will participate fully in the burial arrangements’’ the statement said.

Late Timi Ebikagboro was the  head at the Sports Desk, DBS Warri TV and Radio and was a former Chairman, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Delta State Chapter. He was at different time Media Officer to Warri Wolves and the National Under-23 Dream Team.

Until his death, he was a member of the Delta Football Association and Special Assistant, Media to the Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mr Amaju Pinnick.

The council has declared a two-day mourning in respect of Late Timi Ebikagboro between Tuesday 3rd-4th October, 2017. The council also directed members to put on black clothes as a mark of honour of our departed colleague.
