Killing: Iwo residents set police station ablaze

Police station in Osun state by aggrieve youths over youths allegedly killed by the police

In protest over the killing of one of them, Tunde Nafiu, the people of Iwo town in Osun State, South West of Nigeria, have set a police station ablaze.

Nafiu was said to have been killed by members of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.

Nafiu, described as a student of the Federal Polytechnic, Iree, Osun State, was said to have been shot dead on Thursday when he was about taking a ride on a commercial motorcycle to a neighbouring town, Ile-Ogbo.

The shooting by the police was said to have been carried out to enable them pass when they were obstructed by some residents of the town who were having a carnival.

The police were said to have shot into the air, but a stray bullet, allegedly hit Nafiu who died eventually.

Vexed by the development, residents of the town moved to the police station and set it ablaze.

It was however gathered that the policemen who were on patrol when the incident happened had been detained as investigation by the police authority was said to have begun
