National coordinator of Ijaw Interest Advocate aka Izanzan camp Amb Arerebo Salaco Yeirnmene Snr has called on the Inspector General of Police Mohammad Adamu and other relevant security operatives in the country to conduct thorough investigation to unravel the culprits behind the dastardly and barbaric gruesome murder of its spokesman Comrade Famous Believe Wonikir-ebi who was shot dead in his wife’s shop this week.

Amb. Yerinmene made the call in a petition addressed to the Inspector General of Police Miahammed Adamu appealed to him,  ”It is no longer news that the Spokesperson of the Ijaw Intellectual Advocates (Izanzan Camp); Comrade Famous Belief Wonikiri-Ebi was gruesomely murdered in the dusk hours of Monday 18th May, 2020 at Udu Road in the Warri Metropolis by a gunshot at his neck by unknown gunmen.

”The Lieutenants of the Ijaw Intellectual Advocates (Izanzan Camp) and indeed the Ijaw Nation has been thrown into an uncontrollable turmoil and massive grief to have lost such a gentle, harmless and fine Comrade who’s only desire was to see a better Ijaw Nation and Niger-Delta Region, where resources meant for the development of this impoverished Region was adequately accounted for and not misappropriated.

” Uptill this moment, the Izanzan Camp is still in deep shock to have lost it’s Spokesperson who was very committed and dedicated to the course of liberating Ijaw Nation using intellectual and non-violence means.

”It is noteworthy to stress that the activities of Izanzan Camp has not gone well with some quarters recently. Therefore, while we are using this medium to call on the Nigerian Police Force to live up to expectation by unravelling every actor behind this murder no matter whoever is involved, it is also very imperative to state here that the fact that this murder is coming few days after the Izanzan Camp’s protests against an interventional agency in the Niger Delta over some verifiable fraud perpetuated in the commission, raises a great altitude of a prima facie suspicion by any reasonable man.” He said.

Continuing, ”This suspicion is also heightened by a Vanguard Newspaper publication dated 7th May 2020 where some group of faceless militants under the name of Reformed Niger-Delta Avengers issued threats on those campaigning for the removal of Sen. Godswill Akpabio and Prof. Kemebradikumor Pondei as Minister of Niger-Delta Affairs and Ag. Managing Director of NDDC respectively.

”Whereas we are not pointing accusing fingers on anyone, we are simply calling on the Security Agencies to leave no stone unturned in their investigation of those behind the death of our Compatriot. We say this bearing in mind the African proverb which says “if a witch cries in the night and a child dies in the morning, we do not go to the soothsayer to ask what killed the child”. This ancient proverb may be flawed in law, but the witch should not be left out if the suspects are taken for questioning.

” With endless tears in our eyes and a deep pain in our hearts, we condole with the wife, mother and the entire family of our dear Late Compatriot over this irreplaceable loss.

” On our part as Lieutenants of the Izanzan Camp and Patriots for a better Ijaw Nation, we shall try our best to keep the memories of our Brother and Lieutenant alive” the petition added.
